The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Southwest Texas guides and oversees 52 Catholic parish-based location sites called Conferences.
For nearly 152 years, we have continued our mission in San Antonio, providing direct assistance to meet critical needs in our community. Our Family and Community Assistance Program reaches hundreds of our community’s most vulnerable residents, those making at or below 150% of the Federal Poverty Level, each year through direct support for essential needs like rent and utilities.
Our network of 52 Conference sites- spanning almost 1,400 total square miles- allows our reach to extend across the South Texas community.
Families who are hurting come to these sites, where they know they will be welcomed and will receive staple food items- bags of produce, milk, eggs, meat, canned goods- for free thanks to partnerships with local donors and food banks.
Individuals we serve can also receive seasonally appropriate clothing, assistance with referrals, and comforting support grounded in our principles of love, respect, and compassion.
Today in San Antonio, nearly 21% (1 in 5) of San Antonio residents live below the poverty level. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Southwest Texas Council (SVDP) is dedicated to helping those in need.
